Conference Schedule and Sessions

The conference begins the evening of Monday, November 13 and concludes the at 8pm on the evening of Wednesday, November 15. 

Program Submission - now closed

The program committee invites faculty, professional staff, and graduate students from all academic disciplines and departments to consider presenting a program at AHEPPP’s 2017 National Conference.

The submission process for the 2017 conference will begin April 18. Please click here for detailed program proposal information.

  • Proposals are due no later than Friday, June 16, 2017 at 8pm EST.  All are encouraged to submit proposals before the deadline.
  • All presenters will be notified about the status of their proposal in July 2017.
  • Proposals must be submitted electronically using this submission form.

AHEPPP Institute: Pre-Conference Workshop

The AHEPPP Institute will take place on Monday, November 13 from 9am-2pm, prior to the AHEPPP National Conference, and will provide opportunities for professionals in parent/family programs to engage and interact with colleagues, learn high impact practices for you to be successful in your role and enjoy a mentoring lunch with seasoned professionals. The AHEPPP Institute registration fee includes a continental breakfast and lunch.

  • Participants will be able to identify the mission, vision, and structure of AHEPPP.
  • Participants will begin to establish a network of mutually supportive parent and family programming professionals.
  • Participants will be able to identify elements of successful parent and family programs and ideas for implementation by networking and learning from seasoned professionals in the field.

We are pleased to include several meals within the registration cost. An opening reception, one breakfast, and one dinner will be provided. 

The last day to register for the conference is Friday, October 20 at 5:00pm EST. Late registrations are subject to a $150 late fee and will be accommodated only as space permits. 

Cancellation Policy

All cancellations for must be received in writing on or before before October 20, 2017, 5pm EST. A refund will be issued, subject to a $150 cancellation fee. We are unable to issue refunds after October 20, 2017, 5pm EST.

Pre-conference fees are nonrefundable.

California Travel Restriction to Texas

Texas has recently been added to California’s state-sponsored-travel ban list. AHEPPP does and will continue to support our California members as more details about how this ban might affect travel arrangements become known. In addition, your AHEPPP Board of Directors remains steadfast in supporting ALL members as we support ALL of our students and families in the midst of politics. Let us be reminded of our AHEPPP values and ongoing commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Conference Keynote

altJoin Dr. Gregory Eells for our  2017 Keynote address: Self-Care and Resiliency for Success. Dr. Eells is a licensed psychologist in the State of New York and has worked in higher education mental health for 22 years. He currently serves as the Director of Counseling and Psychological Services at Cornell University and has served as a director of a university counseling service for the past 19 years. He regularly publishes articles in scholarly journals and presents frequently on such topics as leadership, mental health delivery systems, resilience, self-injury and suicide.  He is a member of various professional organizations, is a past-Chair of the Mental Health Section of the American College Health Association (ACHA) and a past president of the Association for University and College Counseling Center Directors (AUCCCD). He received a Presidential Award and a Lifetime Achievement Award from AUCCCD and has been a strong advocate for college mental health issues. He lives in Ithaca, NY with his wife and three children.

Travel and Ground Transportation

Air Travel 

The Adolphus Hotel is located in the heart of downtown Dallas, approximately 20 minutes from DAL and 35 minutes from DFW. Please utilize the airport that best suits your travel needs. 

Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART)

DART runs routes from both DAL and DFW airports. Fare runs at $2.50 one-way. Plan on an hour to arrive to the hotel due to set bus stops.

M-Trolley 

Ride about town on the McKinney Avenue Trolley. The Adolphus is located .5 miles from a trolley stop, and is free to ride. View the trolley route-map here.

Ride Sharing Services

Uber and Lyft both serve the Dallas, TX area and offer service to and from DAL and DFW as well as around Dallas.  Attendees can estimate a one-way cost of roughly $11-18 from DAL and $25-33 from DWF. Costs vary based upon demand and other factors. 

Super Shuttle

AHEPPP Dallas attendees can make reservations with SuperShuttle to and from DAL or DFW. Shared rides run at a rate of $12 from DAL and $16 from DFW.  A 10% discount is available using the AHEPPP reservation site
