2021 AHEPPP Institutes 

AHEPPP Institutes are pre-conference workshops meant to supplement your Virtual National Conference experience. We are excited to offer two tracks for both new and seasoned professionals in the field of family relations. Each institute includes exclusive networking opportunities and educational content and experiences prior to the live conference sessions.

Building or Sustaining a Successful Family Program

Join us for the AHEPPP Institute: Building or Sustaining a Successful Family Program on Friday, October 29 | 12PM - 5 PM EST

This institute is a cohort focused certificate program designed for professionals who are new to working with parents and families in new or established programs, and those who are new to leading a parent/family program. This session is completely virtual. Attendees will engage and interact with colleagues in the field to build their professional network and learn promising practices which can be utilized on their campuses. The day will include sessions presented by current leaders of the AHEPPP. 

This institute is for you if:

  • You have been tasked with building a parent/family program for your institution
  • You have recently taken over leadership for your institution’s parent/family program
  • You are a new professional in higher education and/or specifically to parent/family programs

In addition to this half-day session, participants will be invited to participate in events with faculty including a networking hour and additional cohort follow-ups. Registration will close at max capacity of 25 participants.

Participants will receive an introduction to AHEPPP and learn how to take advantage of resources to enhance your work; begin to establish a network of mutually supportive parent and family programming professionals and begin to identify elements of successful parent and family programs and ideas for implementation by networking and learning from seasoned professionals in the field.

Your Wellbeing Matters: Sustaining a High Performance Team

Join us for the AHEPPP Institute: Crisis Communications & Best Practices on Monday, November 8 | 12 PM - 5 PM EST

The demands of working in higher education have increased exponentially as the world continues to navigate a global pandemic. The pressure to produce dynamic work at an increased volume during this time begs the question: how do we create a culture of care for ourselves and our colleagues while managing fast-paced work cultures and ever-evolving responsibilities? During this institute, attendees will learn why prioritizing healthy boundaries, expectations and personal wellness are vital to establishing a high-performing team. We will explore the correlation between concepts like self-care and self-efficacy, and understand why we can’t successfully meet the needs of our constituents without first meeting our own needs. Attendees will be able to identify strengths and areas for growth within their own organizations, and apply tangible steps to boosting team morale and performance. This session is completely virtual.

  • to implement healthy and effective strategies for encouraging your team toward optimal performance
  • to identify the factors that influence team burnout and how to respond proactively
