The Council for Connection and Community (CCC) helps AHEPPP create a culture where respect, collaboration, and shared responsibility are central to our mission. Through thoughtful leadership and engagement, this group ensures that AHEPPP remains a welcoming, supportive space for all members.
Council for Connection and Community Chair
Reports to: AHEPPP Board of Directors Liaison, and designated AHEPPP staff Term: 2 years Time Commitment: 3–5 hours per week Applications Open: Monday, August 3, 2026 Applications Due: Friday, September 4, 2026 at 11:59 PM ET
Role Summary
The CCC Chair provides strategic leadership for the Council for Connection and Community. This role leads a team of volunteers committed to shaping a mission-driven culture throughout AHEPPP. The Chair works closely with staff, Board Liaisons, and members to create initiatives that promote and build connection and community and support the membership.
Role Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary role on the Council for Connection and Community leadership team, which includes the designated AHEPPP staff and reports directly to the AHEPPP Board of Directors
- Partner with the designated AHEPPP staff to establish the council's goals, concepts, and initiatives, including the operational, engagement, and digital strategy for its efforts
- Oversee the administrative and logistical management of the council
- Actively support council members for maximized engagement and participation
- Work with the designated AHEPPP staff to develop a communications plan and materials as needed to promote the council's work
- Prepare and submit a final report (executive summary) as directed to document decisions, activities, results of new programs, and recommendations of importance to the incoming committee, Chair, and the Board of Directors
Qualifications
- Current AHEPPP member with at least 3 years of experience in parent/family engagement or related professional development work
- Experience with collaborative leadership and facilitation
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to meet regularly with council members and AHEPPP leadership
- Previous experience with the CCC or similar initiatives

- Participate actively in committee meetings, planning sessions, and projects
- Assist in planning and implementing initiatives that promote and build connection and community and support the membership.
- Recommend best practices that foster connection across AHEPPP programs
- Help build a more connected and engaged membership body
Qualifications
- Current AHEPPP member with at least 1 year of experience in parent/family engagement or community-building work
- Thoughtful, dependable, and values-oriented
- Collaborative mindset with a commitment to equity and connection
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
